Energy Efficient Standards

There are a number of recognized standards that evaluate “whole house” energy performance. According to new Virginia legislation, energy efficient buildings are classified as buildings that exceed the energy efficiency standards prescribed by the state building code by 30%, or any building that exceeds performance standards of the Green Globes Green Building Rating System, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System, EarthCraft House Program, or EPA’s Energy Star program.
